Building Maintenance Contractor, Wallace Hickman, Speaks On The Complex Simplicity of Building Maintenance

Benjamin Briggs: I understand you have plenty of contracts. How do you deal with the overflow?

Wallace Hickman: In this business, overflow is ongoing. It isn’t something that you can’t really put a cap on because it’s a business that has a high turnover rate. You will always have more work that you have employees when you do good work.

Benjamin Briggs: Obviously you guys are doing good numbers. Tell me, how do you respond to complaints or problems from customers facilities?

Wallace Hickman: We respond to them immediately. We guarantee our work one hundred percent. So if something gets messed up, we’re on it right away. That keeps the complaints down. People don’t get angry when you respond quickly and it keeps your company from getting replaced at the end of the day. That’s what makes us different from many of the companies in the area.

Benjamin Briggs: I’ve been in town for years. You guys are one of the top companies in town. What parting advice can you give our listeners building maintenance about somebody that wants to get into this business?

Wallace Hickman: The first thing I would say to your listeners and readers is that the most important thing is to make sure you’re licensed and bonded. That is very important because when you get into this most clients will not hire unbounded building maintenance contractors. You also have to have open mind. You must see all four corners of what you’re doing. And the proper equipment is a must. Always have a contingency plan for every situation and learn how to greet your customers. You know there’s certain things you should say and certain things you should not say. So, it’s very, very important that you don’t get too many contracts to overload yourself because you have to have the help. Whatever you do, you want to give it one hundred percent and make your clients are happy. Your reputation is the one thing that keeps you afloat in this business.

Benjamin Briggs: Let’s say I wanted to get in touch with you and your company about a bid. How do I go about contacting you?

Wallace Hickman: You can reach us online at: www.henrysjanitorial.com.

Benjamin Briggs: Earlier in the interview. You stated that you guys have a high turnover rate. What if I want employment? How do I come aboard?

Wallace Hickman: You just come and apply at 7439 Old Seward Highway. Make sure you have your driver’s license, your ID and your Social Security and fill out the application thoroughly. If you qualify for employment, we will give you a call. We are extremely busy so if you don’t hear from us, take initiative. Keep calling, don’t just sit home and wait for week to go by. We’re in and out those doors constantly like I said we are a twenty four hour.
