BI: What Leadership qualities in Leaders do you most admire and why?
TD: We were all born as caterpillars and meant to fly. In order to fly, a leader must discover their MOTIVES behind their behaviors and agree to developing CHARACTER. Character is simply learning strengths that are not core to our current personalities as well as eliminating character flaws that hold us back. Few leaders take the step to discovery and then developing Character. Steve Jobs was an example…a brilliant mind who lived life in quiet desperation with an inability to have good relationships with people.
I admire leaders who have developed CHARACTER and use that power to help others.
BI: What has been a key element of your success?
TD: I had carried past burdens in life (Tony Robbins might call this my BS story) into leadership and discovered over a decade WHY leaders fail. These successes and failures led me to achieve incredible success as a CEO over three decades yet there was still something missing, true happiness. It has only been these burdens of success and failure that have built mental muscle and enabled me to transform myself. All leaders must fail on the path to success and happiness. My experiences have positioned me to mentor and coach leaders including the next generation of millennials who need coaches, not bosses. I can hold up the mirror to any leader and let them see their stories within me. Finding my true PURPOSE and turning it into a business model to help others like me was the most important event in my journey. Most leaders in society withhold vulnerability. Some carry unresolved past trauma disguised as shame. I have weaponized these gifts given to me by my father to conquer leadership and life!
BI: What are some of the business projects that you are currently working on that you are excited about and why?
TD:
I am excited about my book “The Way of the Quiet Warrior™” which publishes July 4, 2017. We are already getting strong reviews and hit International #1 Bestseller April 13 beating out icons such as Daymond John and Gary Vaynerchuk. This book has a deep purpose…it is the calling card to my company KRE-AT™ and I am dedicating royalties to mental health and feeding the hungry. The book is a hybrid of fiction and factual steps designed to start you on a journey towards that greater purpose if you are willing to take the first step.
I wrote the book to help other leaders know they are not alone…for them to see their own stories through the unique chapters. Since writing it I have had people call me and share heroic stories with emotion and tears.

BI: What are 1 or 2 things you would like to say to a prospective client who stumbles across this interview?
TD: You are a leader, a success in your chosen field. You have the position and the money and the things that you always believed would make you happy. And yet…there’s something missing, isn’t there? Maybe it’s a half-buried sense that there should be something else, something more, that you need in your life. Maybe it’s a lingering feeling that the way you are doing things isn’t optimum and there’s something still holding you back. Maybe it’s your own feelings of unhappiness or dissatisfaction with the shape your life has taken.
These feelings are common. So common, in fact, that many people believe that this is simply what being an adult means but that’s not true. There is a deeper satisfaction in life, there is true understanding and there is a way to unlock your true purpose.

BI: To wrap this up, what are you most excited about in the upcoming months in your business?
I am excited to be working with my Co-Founder, business partner and life partner Anna as we scale our company across North America. We are partnering with businesses in all sectors for Leadership Development. My company was created to not have me as the focal point. We believe our brand will be omnipresent, the go-to company for innovation in developing people and dreams. We will be bringing on a team of coaches and mentors over time and our development of a Playbook that sits in the cloud will allow team members to access our entire operations processes to work as coaches under our brand, maintaining their own creative expression. We have built a legacy platform that is scalable internationally, however, we are focused on North America in the short term.
I’m pumped about being invited to appear in July at a Red-Carpet event sponsored by my publishing company Morgan James as part of my bestseller campaign. I am launching a public speaking campaign to take the new innovations we have to the world…part of this will include South Asia where my roots are. Oh, and finally perhaps catching my breath and reflecting on the opportunities I have been given!
