DUNEDIN, FL – Aug. 26, 2026 — Blue Ocean Publishing Group has announced the publication of The Vested Leader, a new leadership book by global business executive, entrepreneur and gender-equity advocate Amnah Ajmal. The book launches September 2, with the Kindle edition available at a special discounted price on launch day.
Part memoir and part leadership manifesto, The Vested Leader is built around a question increasingly relevant to senior executives and emerging leaders alike: What if the leadership playbook you followed is the very thing holding you back?
Drawing on decades of experience inside some of the world’s largest financial institutions, Ajmal examines the personal and organizational cost of a familiar formula for professional success: work hard, deliver results, manage perceptions, align with expectations and fit the mold. While that approach can produce high performers, Ajmal argues that it can also create environments where conformity is rewarded, difficult conversations are avoided and leaders gradually become disconnected from the values that originally shaped them.
At the heart of the book, Ajmal introduces Vested Leadership, a leadership philosophy she developed to challenge conventional models of leadership and success. It asks leaders to become genuinely vested in the people they lead — to use their influence not simply to advance themselves, but to create the conditions in which others can grow, contribute and succeed.
Grounded in courage, accountability and purpose, Vested Leadership challenges leaders to take greater ownership of the effect their decisions have on people, organizational culture and the environments they create. It reframes leadership around a different set of choices: people over power, influence over authority, stewardship over status and alignment over approval.
“From our earliest conversations about The Vested Leader, it was clear that Amnah had something important to say and the experience to support it,” said Barak Granot of Blue Ocean Publishing Group. “She has been an absolute pleasure to work with throughout this process — thoughtful, decisive and deeply committed to the message of the book. We are excited to bring The Vested Leader to readers on September 2 and to publish a book that we believe can contribute meaningfully to the way people think about leadership today.”
Ajmal’s perspective has been shaped by an international career spanning North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. A former senior executive at Mastercard, she led major businesses and strategic functions across a broad international footprint, including responsibility for markets, partnerships, innovation, strategy and M&A. Earlier in her career, she became the youngest wealth and retail bank CEO at Standard Chartered Malaysia, where she led the transformation of the retail banking franchise toward a digital model. She also held leadership positions at Citi across the UAE, Egypt, the United Kingdom and Poland.
Her career has included responsibility for multibillion-dollar businesses and leadership exposure across more than 100 markets. Ajmal has also been recognized internationally for her work in financial technology and business leadership, including being named among Forbes Middle East’s 100 Most Powerful Businesswomen in both 2024 and 2025. Her other recognitions have included rankings among leading women in fintech in the United States and globally.
But The Vested Leader is not simply a collection of lessons from a successful executive career. Ajmal uses her own journey through different countries, cultures and corporate systems to examine what happens when professional success begins to demand conformity — and what it takes to choose a different way of leading.
“This book is important to me because too many capable people reach positions they once worked incredibly hard for, only to discover that success has required them to silence parts of themselves along the way,” said Amnah Ajmal. “Leadership should not be about learning how to conform more effectively. It should be about having the courage to take responsibility — for what you stand for, for the decisions you make and for the impact you have on other people. The Vested Leader is an invitation to have that conversation and to build a more conscious standard for leadership.”
Rather than offering a conventional checklist for climbing the corporate ladder, the book is intended for readers who may already be succeeding on paper but have begun questioning the cost of that success. It speaks directly to professionals who have felt invisible despite their accomplishments, questioned whether fitting in was worth the price or recognized that something needed to be said but chose silence instead.
Ajmal also brings her focus on leadership and equity to her work as founder of SheKnows, a global platform designed to give senior women access to the perspectives, experience and guidance of global CEOs and business leaders. Through executive conversations and direct engagement, SheKnows helps women navigate pivotal moments of career growth and leadership.
