Dr. Cali Estes, Founder of The Addictions Academy a Featured Keynote Speaker at Upcoming Art of Recovery Film Festival
The Art of Recovery film festival takes over Lake Worth July 27-29 at the HATCH Center and Stonzak Theater. This is the second annual Art of Recovery Film Festival. Last year, Manny Mendez and his team were about to raise over $2000. This year they hope to raise even more as they branch out in the community of Lake Worth.

The highlight of the weekend will be the world premiere of “The Art for Hope Tour Film Project,” produced by Manny Mendez and directed by Richard Jackson. The film took them through 9 states on their way to the FedUp rally in Washington D.C. The team appeared as guests at the rally with a painting created to honor friends who have passed from opiate overdoses.

The Art of Recovery Film Festival highlights films that focus on sober living and recovery. Recovering addicts and alcoholics from all over come together for a charitable cause to raise money and awareness for addicts using art as their form of therapy to heal and grow.

Dr. Estes, along with the other presenters at the show are attempting to help end the stigma surrounding addiction and recovery issues. In her recent bestselling book “I Married A Junkie” Dr. Estes and her husband, professional drummer Tim Estes came clean about their amazing story as the couple struggled with Tim’s heroin addiction which threatened to end their relationship and his life.

“Through the telling of my personal story I hope to aid those in substance abuse recovery by providing some confidence that there is a better life for them beyond addiction,” stated Estes.

The opening reception will be held July 27 at EMKO from 7-11pm. The Art Exhibit will be held July 27 from 11am-4pm at the HATCH Center. Film features will take place on July 28and 29th from 11am-5pm at the Stonzak Theater.

“We did the first Art of Recovery in 2014. It has now become a movement and we’ve even produced a documentary,” said founder Manny Mendez.

Today the Art of Recovery encompasses an art show and film festival that is sobriety and recovery centered. It provides hope, inspiration, and encouragement for everyone because, with millions of Americans directly affected by addiction and substance abuse disorder, we are all touched by this difficult yet treatable issue.

During the event, see the premiere of the powerful and inspiring new documentary from Foreel. Join Manny Mendez and crew as they bring a message of hope from Florida through the US to the nation’s capital. Stopping along the way, they discuss sobriety and the challenges facing those in the struggle, while honoring the painting, “Your Wings Were Ready, But Our Hearts Were Not.” They end the tour at the Fed Up Rally in D.C. addressing the nations opioid epidemic.

Dr. Estes expressed her excitement about participating in the event, “I am thrilled and honored to be a part of this fun and important exhibition of creativity and hope. It’s a really great Festival!”

Proceeds from the event aid For The Children Inc. which provides culturally sensitive programs that validate and empower students to succeed at school and in life. Face Tha Muzik, an organization delivering professional training in Music Industry Careers to youth and young adults in need is also a benefactor.

All Art of Recovery Film Festival events are free and open to the public. Sponsorship packages are still available.
