This one-day event is designed to bring many celebrities, artists, and speakers from around the country together, in honor of National Recovery Month. The event also celebrates the work being done to end addiction and the loss of life associated with it.
This free, 9-hour event will be held September 1 at the Huron County Fair Grounds, (940 Fair Rd, Norwalk, OH 44857), and is scheduled to begin at noon.
Dr. Estes, along with the other presenters at the show are attempting to help end the stigma surrounding addiction and recovery issues, while spotlighting the incredible work and support the movement has garnished.
In her recent bestselling book “I Married A Junkie” Dr. Estes and her husband, professional drummer Tim Estes came clean about their amazing story as the couple struggled with Tim’s heroin addiction which threatened to end their relationship and nearly ended his life.
“Through the telling of my personal story my goal is to aid those in substance abuse recovery by providing some hope that there is a better life for them beyond addiction,” stated Estes. Both authors will be at the event signing copies of their incredible book.
Guests at The One Mission One Voice event will include prominent celebrities and national music acts, national recovery based motivational speakers, public figures, government agencies; all who are vocal about advocating for living life to the fullest. Guest appearances by Warren J. Boyd, Brandon Novak, Michael Wright, Edward Furlong and Tim Ryan. Musical performances by Three Dog Night, Sublime, Crowfly, Jam Alker and Band, Jada Vance and Gambo. Other special guests and musical artists still to be announced.
Dr. Estes expressed her excitement about participating in the event, “I am thrilled to be a part of this important celebration for those individuals who have overcome adversity to find purpose in recovery. It’s a really great honor!”
National Recovery Month (Recovery Month) is a national observance sponsored by SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration). It is held every September to educate Americans that substance use treatment and mental health services can enable those with a mental and/or substance use disorder to live a healthy and rewarding life.
Recovery Month celebrates the gains made by the millions of Americans whose lives have been transformed through recovery. The observance reinforces the positive message that behavioral health is essential to overall health, prevention works, treatment is effective, and people can and do recover.
Now in its 29th year, Recovery Month highlights the achievements of individuals who have reclaimed their lives in long-term recovery and honors the treatment and recovery service providers who make recovery possible. Recovery Month also promotes the message that recovery in all of its forms is possible and encourages citizens to take action to help expand and improve the availability of effective prevention, treatment, and recovery services for those in need.
The One Mission One Voice celebration is to honor and give back to those individuals who fight for their lives on a daily basis and choose to live a life in recovery and give back to their communities. The event also helps to increase awareness and furthers a greater understanding about the diseases of mental and substance use disorders.
