Jane Tabachnick’s New Book Publicity for Introverts Shows Shy Entrepreneurs How to Succeed in the Spotlight

Janelle: It sounds like the book is also a tool – like a do it yourself coaching program.

Jane: That is absolutely true, and the book is very approachable and affordable; it’s going to sell for under twenty dollars. It will be available as a kindle book for immediate download or in print, which will be out before the end of the 2014.

People can work at their own pace, dip their toe in the water of doing publicity and begin the process I outlined earlier; if they decide they need a coach later, they can always come to someone like myself, who could help them overcome some of their obstacles and achieve the kind of progress they are looking to make. The book is to be the first step, as well as a simple kind of a do it yourself coaching program to help you get results.

While it’s targeted to entrepreneurs, authors, and coaches, it’s really for everyone – we all need to do some promotion, there is no business or individual that can function without some kind of intentional marketing and visibility, so the book is really for everyone.

Those who know they need visibility, whose business or career depend on it can find ways to do publicity that is either within their comfort zone or can become part of their comfort zone. They can discover or decide that they are willing to step out of their comfort zone, a baby step at time, and stretch the line of where that comfort zone is.

There is no place in the book, or in my coaching that I ever tell anyone what they need to or should do. They are completely in control of what they do and what they decide to do.

But there are times when I recommend to someone that they push themselves a little bit more, get out of their comfort zone, do something that scares them, and the results are going to be well worth it. I am a firm believer that life begins at the edge of your comfort zone.

Janelle: Can you give an example of a successful introvert who became comfortable doing publicity?

Jane: I just read an interview with Adele, the Grammy award-winning singer and an international celebrity, herself an introvert. She gets terrified before she goes on stage, so much so that she gets sick, and she said it that the sicker she gets before she goes on stage, the better the performance. So there is a direct correlation between the level of fear, and how much satisfaction there is afterward when she overcomes it and is able to go on stage and perform phenomenally.

While Adele was not my client, I love this example because it helps us remember that you are not alone in this. It’s actually normal to have feelings and fears, and they can be overcome. You can do things you may not think you are capable of right now, to get the kind of visibility and results you are seeking. Again, its up to you, you are in charge of what you decide to do and when you decide to do it – just don’t wait too long!

Janelle: Thank you Jane, this has been very enlightening!

Jane – You are welcome! Here’s to your publicity success!
