I will offer a variety of services for moms (married and single) that acknowledge it’s okay if you’re suffering, but you owe it to your family and to yourself to find a way to be renewed, rejuvenated, and reinvented. No matter how progressive mothers become, we’re still the glue that holds families together. MotherHub adds value to every mother. Instilling a new sense of self-worth and an optimistic, bright viewpoint will help the family flourish. We need connected families. Our kids cannot thrive when we’re suffering. It just makes sense then to prioritize ourselves to raise connected kids.
BI: What are 1 or 2 things you would like to say to a prospective client who stumbles across this interview?
SD: I would ask a potential client, “When you’re the happiest when time stops when nothing else matters, 1) what are you doing? 2) who are you with? 3) where are you?” If they cannot readily answer these questions, I would advise them to investigate further with my help.
BI: What’s the hardest thing about being an entrepreneur?
SD: The most challenging part is recognizing that I was created to honor my role as a mother AND to fulfill my passion and purpose in life. At times, moms get lost in motherhood. We owe it to our children, especially our daughters, to raise them in an environment where a mother has unconditional love for her children but also for herself. Also, think of what marriages might look like if mom understood her value and respected herself enough to speak up, show up, and be her authentic self, KNOWING that she’s good enough exactly the way she is. Researcher and author Brene Brown says that as parents, “who WE are is a much more accurate predictor of who our children will be.” I interpret that as a significant privilege and responsibility.
BI: To wrap this up, what are you most excited about in the upcoming months in your business?
SD: I am most excited about the Modern Femme Movement Convention. This is going to be a life-changing event for all attendees. I believe in the Modern Femme vision, and I’m confident this three-day event will be transformational.
I’m also truly looking forward to Wynn Godbold’s Leadership Retreat this summer. Wynn focuses on leadership, influence, effective communicating, and developing a growth plan. As a fellow John Maxwell Team member, I’m certain this year she will offer even more insight to teachers. Also, she has an incredible special guest speaker, the Former CIA Director of the National Clandestine Services, Frank Archibald! This too will be an amazing event.
