KYM: Hello, my name is Kyle Young-Moncure. I am the Founder and C.E.O. of the Free Your Mind Forum and Managing Partner of The Free Your Mind Consortium. I have decades of experience leading up to my current calling; A certified trainer in Diversity and Inclusion & Cultural Competence. I previously served as Manager of Membership for the Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce as well as Community Donations Director with The Arc of Texas.
I have also functioned in leadership positions with prominent organizations to include: The Muscular Dystrophy Association, Sprint Corporate HQ, Gateway 2000, IBM, Verizon, Le Cordon Bleu and The Dallas Arboretum.
It was my work amongst these companies and evaluating interpersonal relationships over a twenty-year period that spurned my choice to reinvigorate The Free Your Mind Forum 501©(3) and collaborate to establish The Free Your Mind Consortium, LLC.
BI: What would you say is the area in business that you are most passionate about and why?
KYM: Diversity, Inclusion, and Engagement.
My desire to promote diversity & inclusion, and build cultural synergy, is why I am the founder of The Free Your Mind Forum, an entertaining, educational series & traveling exhibition for communities and businesses.
I believe that diverse cultures are not only compatible, but we also enhance and enrich each others lives by sharing ideas, core values, histories, and aspirations as well. I think that a pro-active, open dialogue about race in America is long overdue. FYM plan impacts businesses and communities. I believe “It’s Time To Talk.”
BI: How are you different than your competitors?
KYM: FYM’s approach is the future of Diversity and Inclusion. We define it as “D & I, After 5 pm.”
We are training, education, entertainment, engagement & dialogue all rolled into one…
We use a combination of entertainment, psychological & social engineering methods developed by leading diversity and inclusion experts; The Free Your Mind Forum is designed to strengthen communities & the fellowship of an organization’s members in a relaxed environment. Make no mistake – we are more than just a corporate or community “mixer”. Rather, this a National Live Talk Series guided Diversity & Inclusion Professionals and aided by musicians, poets, actors, speakers, and, most importantly, the audience themselves. We call it – “EDUTAINMENT.”
BI: Please tell me about any recent business accomplishments that you are most proud of and why?
KYM: I recently partnered with Todd F. Brown and formed an amazing D & I Consultancy called The FYM Consortium.
Free Your Mind – is a wholistic D & I Consultancy committed to Conscious Inclusion, Progress & Growth for individuals, companies & communities; with an eye towards super-serving Hispanic, African-American, Asian, LGBTQ, Women & Aging populations. What originally began as an innovative approach to diversity and inclusion has now grown to include an astounding group of seasoned professionals and passionate advisors who collectively bring over 100 years of experience to the Diversity and Inclusion space. The FYM Consortium will officially launch in June 2016.
Todd F. Brown is a highly accomplished executive and thought global leader with expertise in sales, marketing, technology, finance, and diversity and inclusion across multiple industries and global corporate environments. Todd has been a champion of diversity throughout his career. He has served as a resource for leading edge companies including Andreesen Horowitz. Brown has also served as an advisor and partner to the Chief Diversity Officers of several prominent companies including Fox, Viacom, Omicron, CBS, Comcast, Disney, Coke, Clorox, and Intel. He also served as an Officer of Johnson Publishing Company and Group Publisher of Ebony and Jet Magazines.
BI: What Leadership qualities in Leaders do you most admire and why?
KYM: Emotional Intelligence – Confidence – Compassion – Humility – Integrity – Vision – Strength
I believe that each of these are essential qualities in recruiting, motivating, inspiring, training & building a strong team. If a leader has these attributes, he will likely attract key players that have the same.
BI: What has been a key element of your success?
KYM: My Undying Thirst To Make A Difference.
