An Interview with Human Experience Architect, Emily Carter

I used to feel bad about the fact that I didn’t know how to change the world. I wasn’t a scientist or an inventor who was going to cure diseases or create new, environmentally friendly machines. But, there are very few individuals who have the power or genius to make huge shifts on their own, and even then it’s maybe not as big as it’s perceived.

The most effective, lasting change comes from mass action from thousands, or even millions of people. So, my advice is: remember that small actions have a ripple effect. For example, the kinds of processes that companies implement now around remote and flexible working have the potential to positively impact the environment and even improve gender equality if things are handled right. Right now, we have a once in a lifetime opportunity to enact positive, lasting change, because things have already been shaken up so much.

What are the biggest mistakes you see people make and how can they be avoided?

Thinking short term. Because, the fact of the matter is that, personally or professionally, to improve things you need to make time and space to adjust, to implement new processes, or to alter ways of thinking. That comes at a cost to the current status quo. And a lot of people don’t want to make that sacrifice in the now, even if it is for a better later.

How do you plan on further growing your business?

I have several media interviews lined up where I’ll be connecting with wide audiences.

I’m very active on social media and produce valuable content for my audience and I also run events.

Growth through strategic partnerships is something I’m incredibly passionate about.

For example, I have partnered with a leader in the corporate travel sector, and together we’re building a totally new format for annual retreats and corporate conferences.

They’re aimed at companies with teams working across multiple countries and time zones, who are no longer able to fly all their staff to one location for training and team building.
