- Tell us about your journey! What led you to this point?
My children, aged 12 and 16, had decided to live with their dad because they couldn’t stand living with my second husband, who immediately became controlling after marrying him in 2015. We had known each other since we were small children as his mum and dad were friends with my parents. His parents were even my sister’s godparents!
I had saved my second husband from committing suicide a few years previously because I had had a dream about him and stopped him from throwing himself under a lorry on a busy ‘A’ road near Gatwick.
All this story is in my internationally best-selling book The Power Of Reinvention.
It was when my children left that I felt so broken because my children are my world and if I wasn’t a full-time mum, I had no idea who I really was. I had a part-time job working in a school so that my working hours fit around them.
A friend said that she thought I’d make a great psychotherapist, but I had no real desire for that, so I decided to train as a counsellor, with hypnotherapy training. I never did the counselling training as the hypnotherapy course led me to stumble on Marisa Peer, through a Google search and I knew that I needed to train in her method as a Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) Practitioner. I ended up doing both courses simultaneously. I had finally found what I wanted to do when I grew up, at 47 years old.
