An Interview with Wellness Expert, Rachel Farnsworth

  1. Tell us about your journey! What led you to this point?

My children, aged 12 and 16, had decided to live with their dad because they couldn’t stand living with my second husband, who immediately became controlling after marrying him in 2015. We had known each other since we were small children as his mum and dad were friends with my parents. His parents were even my sister’s godparents!

I had saved my second husband from committing suicide a few years previously because I had had a dream about him and stopped him from throwing himself under a lorry on a busy ‘A’ road near Gatwick.

All this story is in my internationally best-selling book The Power Of Reinvention.

It was when my children left that I felt so broken because my children are my world and if I wasn’t a full-time mum, I had no idea who I really was.  I had a part-time job working in a school so that my working hours fit around them.

A friend said that she thought I’d make a great psychotherapist, but I had no real desire for that, so I decided to train as a counsellor, with hypnotherapy training. I never did the counselling training as the hypnotherapy course led me to stumble on Marisa Peer, through a Google search and I knew that I needed to train in her method as a Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) Practitioner.  I ended up doing both courses simultaneously.  I had finally found what I wanted to do when I grew up, at 47 years old.

I qualified in June 2018 and in October the same year my daughter had a flare-up of her autoimmune disease, Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis. She had been diagnosed with it when she was a year old and was now 14.  She had been in drug-induced remission for 2 years and 8 weeks after being off the drugs her joints were very painful and swollen.

The doctors said that she would have to go back on the drugs and may need stronger ones this time.  Neither she nor I could face that because it meant self-injecting every weekend, feeling nauseous every day, and so many other side effects such as having poor memory too.  These past 8 weeks had given us a taste of what a childhood should look like, we couldn’t face the old pattern again.

I knew that Marisa Peer, who trained me had worked successfully with physical conditions, but I wasn’t her and doubted I had the ability.  So, I asked other people who had also trained in her method to help me.  All of them said that I was the best person to help her as she is my daughter. I was still doubtful.

One of the therapists said, “So what if it takes 50 sessions, Rachel, why not at least try?”  That didn’t seem too bad! It took the pressure off me. So we had a session together. Both of us with no expectations of the outcome. Emily and I not only found her root cause, but she was also able to release it too!

She felt the release in the session and all her joints clicked and she felt lighter. She has been pain-free, symptom-free and medication-free since then, October 2018.  It took just one session!

That’s when I knew that I had to get out there and tell the world that the answers don’t lie in medication, but in our own subconscious minds. There is emotional pain lying behind the physical symptoms.  Our minds hold the key and we have the power to heal ourselves.

Later on, as I was continuing my learning in the method, I was watching Marisa work with a client, who was also training to be an RTT therapist. I could relate to the client so much that the penny dropped that it wasn’t just confidence I was lacking, I had in fact got a pattern of emotionally abusive relationships.  That was such a huge ‘aha’ moment!

Shortly afterwards I began taking steps to divorce my second husband and I had RTT therapy myself to break the pattern for good.  I am now in a proper loving relationship for the first time in my life and it feels amazing!

I now help men and women recover from anxiety, depression and autoimmune disease. RTT has won awards for its effectiveness with anxiety and depression.  Many clients have had toxic relationship patterns too, because there is always emotional pain lying behind the presenting symptoms, so I am so able to help them break their old patterns too. I truly believe that unless you have been in one you can’t fully understand the complexity of how it makes you feel so disempowered and shut down.

2. What has been your biggest achievement?

Apart from my daughter recovering from an autoimmune disease and recovering and thriving after emotionally abusive relationships, being a single parent and being a full-time entrepreneur.

Some of my earlier clients spurred me on to keep going.  I helped a lovely lady overcome PTSD in just one session! She came in shaking and so scared and left feeling 10 foot tall and went shopping on her own, something she hadn’t been able to do on her own for years, and not even with a partner!

My first psoriasis client was amazing too and the photos of his skin before and after two weeks apart were incredible.

3. What’s the biggest result you help your clients to achieve?
