Judy perez, executive director of elc announces partnership with future ready plan TO ACCELERATE Open education resources
Denver’s eLearn Collaborative (ELC) has been chosen as an official Regional Partner of Future Ready Schools (FRS), a joint project of the U.S. Department of Education and the Washington, D.C.-based Alliance for Excellent Education, a national educational policy and advocacy organization. Judy Perez, Executive Director of eLearn Collaborative (ELC) said: “We are so excited to be chosen as Regional Partner with the Future Ready Plan! Contributing to an environment of sharing supported by U.S. Department of Education is our utmost desire.”
FRS strives to provide digital learning opportunities to as many students as possible (underserved students in particular) and to help school districts use these resources to prepare students to be successful students, workers, and citizens. eLearn Collaborative (ELC) is the only official FRS partner in the Rocky Mountain Region
The partnership recognizes eLearn Collaborative’s Digital Content Warehouse project as a valuable source of free and shareable full online courses and other digital learning opportunities, including resources designed specifically for often underserved English-language learner (ELL) students and relevant professional development online courses created by teachers who are experts in e-learning for use by educators and school district leaders. The Digital Content Warehouse regularly adds additional resources and opportunities, all of which align with the mission of the FRS. For example, in the near future, eLearn Collaborative will be translating their courses into Spanish in order to better serve Hispanic ELL students.
eLearn Collaborative’s Digital Content Warehouse project is part of the growing Open Education Resources (OER) movement in which educational agencies, universities, organizations, and corporations provide open online courses (such as the Massive Open Online Courses, or MOOCs, offered by many universities, Coursera, edX, Khan Academy, etc.) and other digital learning opportunities to students who would otherwise be unable to access these educational resources.
The eLearn Collaborative is a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding quality blended and online learning. – Learn more at: http://elearncollaborative.org/
