Welcome to Business Innovators Magazine…Please introduce yourself and a brief thumbnail sketch of your background.
SK: My name is Scott Krusemark and I am an Entrepreneur who has run a number of successful businesses over the last 30 years, the most successful of which have been as a Computer Consultant and a Real Estate Investor.
I am a successful software engineer and consultant with more than 35 years background and experience in numerous languages, platforms and industries.
I have a life-long love of learning and bring those skills to everything that I do. I also seem to have the innate ability to explain complex problems, systems, and even real estate issues in ways that others can understand them. This has enabled me to be an excellent teacher as well.
BI: What would you say is the area in business that you are most passionate about and why?
SK: I am passionate about almost everything I do because I look for and find the fun in almost anything I do. This makes it easier to do the job that needs doing, keeps the motivation up, and helps to excite other people to help you. When you enjoy what you do, people want in. I have always been passionate about computer programming and for the last 13 years I have been equally as passionate about real estate investing as well.
BI: How are you different than your competitors?
SK: I am different than most people in three ways. (1) I am an information-aholic. I love learning, just about anything. (2) I also find the joy in whatever I have to do, from the mundane tasks to the complex problem solving issues. (3) And finally, I also believe in quality. I always try to do my best. When I am hired to solve a problem, I work at it diligently until I have solved it.
BI: Please tell me about any recent business accomplishments that you are most proud of and why?
SK: I recently helped a real estate novice couple overcome their fear of making a mistake and helped them to purchase their first investment property; a small thing but really significant in their life. In a single transaction they will make almost 6 months of their annual current income.
BI: What Leadership qualities in Leaders do you most admire and why?
SK: Leaders are those people who excel in their role and have the excitement, courage, and strength to do what needs to be done, as well as lead in a way that makes people want to follow them. This is true whether the leader is a business owner, a Manager, a technician, or an investor. Leaders have goals and a vision. They have the desire to help others achieve. Leaders are decisive and adaptable as well.
BI: What has been a key element of your success?
SK: There are a number of them. I keep learning so I constantly gather new information on a wide variety of topics and subjects. I am persistent in that I choose a direction and keep working towards that goal. That goal may change over time, but then I work towards the new goal with that same persistence. I don’t hoard the knowledge that I have. By sharing and giving it away, everyone benefits in the long run, including me. I have a huge love of problem solving. Give me a problem and I will have fun creating a solution!
BI: What are some of business projects that you are currently working on that you are excited about and why?
SK: I am always looking for new opportunities; right now I’m adding some additional Real Estate Coaching clients, bringing my life experiences to help others to a better, more fulfilling life. I am also getting into the field of Computer Security, which promises to be a new series of puzzles for me to solve!
BI: What are 1 or 2 things you would like to say to a prospective client who stumbles across this interview?
SK: If you have an interesting problem, let me know. I love solving problems. I may or may not take it on, and if it is a a computer problem, I may or may not do the work myself, but I can offer guidance and be a good sounding board. Maybe we can even set up a coaching agreement so that we both benefit.
BI: To wrap this interview up, what are you most excited about in the upcoming months in your business?
SK: I am getting into two new areas of business both of which are really extensions of what I am already doing on a smaller scale. The first is that I am doing Real Estate/Life Coaching. With all of the knowledge that I have accumulated over the years, plus my ability to help people understand things, I am really excited about being able to coach people in their Real Estate and business careers.
The second area is that I am going to be getting into Computer Security, which dovetails perfectly with all of my years of experience in all of the different industries and platforms as a consultant for the last 33 years and the large number of computer languages and operating systems I know as well.
