Kaypri: Well, my mother worked on the book for over 15 years, beginning in her late sixties after she retired, and I saw what she went through to get this thing done, get certain chapters done, certain chapters are very hard for her to write. She traveled to go visit people she had known in the 50s, she called up old co-workers, and she really did a lot of research. She took writing classes, got a writing coach, and even convened a writers group to keep her on task. I watched her grow as a writer, and I helped her develop the chapters as she wrote them because I had been writing since middle school, so I was her first editor. I witnessed her passion and excitement, and when the term bucket list came out, I knew this was on hers. It was something she had to do, and when she got to the point she couldn’t write a sentence… I realized it was up to me or it wasn’t going to get done and I couldn’t let her hard work not bear fruit.
