Tracy: How did you choose this?
Russ: Throughout my career and my history in and out of companies my secret sauce has always been the ability to be creative. I have always been able to do more with what I have and push past the limits of what is possible.
I have the ability to utilize technology in a way that helps create something new along the way. For example, my background in music, recording and broadcast allowed me to produce shows from an iPad and a few mics and broadcast them over traditional radio stations. The same holds true for the streaming video platforms. I understand the technology, the workflow and the way it can be used to expand others message in the market. It’s easy to provide a roadmap for others when you can see the road ahead.
Helping others is the best way to build a solid reputation and create value in the market. Podcasting is the new networking and video is the quickest way to provide your audience a way to understand if they want to work with you or not. It really doesn’t matter what you sell, if they don’t like you the customer will go somewhere else to do business.
Don’t expect to have others to make the last mile less than a mile. It’s all part of the journey. Provide value and it always returns.
Tracy: Was there a specific need that you saw in the marketplace?
Russ: The number one frustration from clients is they all want sales. They look at using social media as a way to take a shortcut when social media is a great way to start a conversation, it is still not the end of the road. There is so much content being produced every single day that it’s no longer a process of creating content. You now have to create content that is GOOD. You create content that people share and that helps them solve a pain they are having in their life.
Tracy: Excellent. One of the things I like to ask all my guests is what they do to fuel their passion. How do you keep yourself energized and what kind of support network do you have around you?
Russ: I am so blessed for all of the experience I have had in my life. I had mentors and people that supported me along the way and people that I care deeply about. I have two boys that I am very proud of and they followed me to Texas and I’m so blessed to have them in my life. Both my Parents are avid supporters of what I’m doing even when they’re not always sure what it is that I do. I have a wonderful business partner that keeps me on my toes and I ‘m thankful for all the positive people in my life that keep me motivated to help others along the way.
