The city has the largest concentration of military bases within the United States. It’s even been nicknamed “Military City.” In addition to an Army base and two Air Force bases, the city has one of the country’s largest military medical facilities.

Several universities are in or near San Antonio. The most well-known universities in the area are Trinity University, University of the Incarnate Word, St. Mary’s University, and UTSA. Today, St. Mary’s University is well known for its academics. UTSA is the biggest university and has a contemporary urban campus. All the universities are well renowned and attract students from across the country.

Dr Tom Chesser and his wonderful wife, Nyla Chesser, have been together for over 50 years. As San Antonio residents, Tom Chesser worked for Southwestern Bell Yellow Pages – AT&T Advertising Solutions for over 25 years and now runs an authority branding and positioning agency, while Nyla is a school nurse with Northside Independent School District.

Nyla Chesser became interested in nursing while working for the Health Department in Ft. Worth, TX. She went on to earn her RN from the prestigious Texas Woman’s University and began her career as a clinical research coordinator in San Antonio, TX. supervising clinical research studies/trials in diabetes and glandular medicines for a major pharmaceutical company, which ended up taking her to Dallas, Texas, to work for UT Southwestern, conducting clinical research trials. With her home in San Antonio and daughters still there, Nyla wanted to move back and immediately applied for a nursing position at Northside Independent School District, where she has worked for 13 years. As a floating nurse, she is assigned to elementary, Middle, and High schools.
