President Donald Trump has announced that the Republican National Committee will hold its first-ever national convention during a midterm election year, with Dallas, Texas, selected as the host city. The two-day event is scheduled for September 9–10, 2026, at the American Airlines Center and is designed to boost GOP voter turnout ahead of the November elections that will determine control of Congress. Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson, serving as Chairman of the Republican Mayors Association, welcomed the announcement, calling the selection “a tremendous honor” for the city.
The first night of the convention will feature 53 items/speakers; the second night will feature 59 items/speakers, according to the RNC.
