EA: Hello, My name is Eunice Abaga, and I am a parallepreneur currently working in the public sector while building businesses in the private and the third sector. I have worked in the civil service for over ten years providing strategic advice and research analysis in policy related to Primary Health Care. My role as a policy analyst has offered me opportunities to apply my skills in teaching, facilitation and training, research evaluation, project management as well as competencies in workplace culture, accommodation and compliance, workplace conflict, and diversity and inclusion. In the course of my civil service, I have contributed in both operational and strategic roles of the Department of Health and Wellness. For instance, I have worked on building capacity training sessions for chronic diseases management, creating a resource for health literacy and cultural competence, participating in the planning and delivery of health equity forums and serving as Account -Executive for United Way Campaign on a co-chair capacity.
In the last five years, I have been running an income property business that has offered me a lot of business lessons. When I first entered the business, everything looked rosy and promising.
To my surprise, a lot of things changed with the slow rental market as well as “bad tenants”. Today, I am a stronger business leader in the area of income property because I have been able to survive tenants challenges, foreclosure threats and have gained new skills sets in negotiating with financial institutions, legal and regulatory bodies.
Recognizing that the number one secret of profitability is investing in training, I have heavily invested in professional training by participating in Brian Tracy’s Speaking Academy, Steve Siebold’s Mental Toughness University and some seminars with Bob Proctor and Lisa Nichols.
With the knowledge gained from a college education, business training and experience gained in the public sector and real estate field; I feel more prepared to expand my business leadership to harness competencies and skills in all three sectors by starting non-profit organizations as my way of giving back to communities. I continue to appreciate the lessons learned from lived experiences, formal learning as well as informal learning that happens through networks. I am well positioned to leverage successful people and organizations to contribute worldwide and make an our planet a better world. I feel confident in creating strategic alliances and partnerships that will create innovative services and products that result in sustainable greatest results for generations.
BI: What would you say is the area in business that you are most passionate about and why?
EA: The area I am passionate about is supporting personal, professional and organizational transformation through, speaking, training, consulting, coaching and mentoring.
I am passionate about transformational work because it is the foundation of achieving peace of mind and restoring joy and satisfaction. Whether it is a personal or an organizational goal, human beings discern happiness that comes from being successful in their goals. To achieve success and excellence in work and business, people need to transform their ways of thinking, learning and taking action. As Albert Einstein said, “no problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.” Hence, the need for continuous improvement in our life and work that can only be attained through transformation work. As a transformational speaker and leader, I believe that I need continuous transformation, and I continue to invest time and money in life-long learning as well as learning from successful teachers and coaches like Brian Tracey, Steve Siebold, Lisa Nichols, Bob Proctor, Lisa Sasevich, Sabine Messner, among others.
One of the big lessons I have learned from this thought leaders is that to serve as a transformational leader, you need to increase your self-awareness and be ready to be transformed from within.
BI: How are you different than your competitors?
EA: My personal life trajectory has taught me lessons that are unique and exceptional. I was born and raised in a different continent, and I am now working and aging on another continent. Having grown up in multi-cultural settings, I embrace difference and celebrate diversity in unique ways. As a trained school teacher, I am aware of different learning styles and cognizant of the value of tailoring training materials to fit the audience. Through educational preparation in Adult Education, I constantly, realize the value of learning competencies by appropriately responding to each learner’s needs.
I combine both theoretical and empirical evidence in problem analysis and decision-making processes. As a life-long learner who embrace continuous improvement, I bring new perspectives to problem analysis while allowing clients’ creativity and genius in identifying solutions. Through co-learning and knowledge co-production, clients who work with me achieve greater results in productivity, creativity, profitability, and performance in general.
