Carol: That had to touch you in a profound way.

Karyn: Yes, it did very much. I believe my clients see me as a highly empathetic and intuitive woman. I believe they see me as honest in my dealings and integral in my relationships. I believe they see that I go the extra mile and deliver more than is expected.

Carol: and that is evident. As I listen to you, I am curious as to what your inspiration has been for creating this faith-based program?

Karyn: At 11 years of age, my father took me with him to church in Zama, Japan, every Sunday, for the year he was stationed there as a Commander in the U.S. Navy. I watched as he ministered in the clergy, to the servicemen at Zama Hospital, who were suffering from wounds from fighting in the Vietnam war. My heart ached with a desire to bless the wounded warriors who gave God all the credit and the glory that their lives had been spared on the battlefront. I saw young men, age 19 and above, who were suffering from horrific wounds sustained in battle. This created a desire, at a very early age, to minister to those who are grieving on an emotional and spiritual level in a faith-centered way.

Carol: Who would you say could benefit from a Joy Coaching session with you or one of your Joy Coaches of America?

Karyn: I’d say everyone who would like to receive a greater sense of peace can benefit from these deeply nurturing relaxation sessions.

Carol: Let’s delve more into what the threefold mission of Joy Coaching America is.

Karyn: The threefold mission of Joy Coaching America includes ministering to the broken hearted, helping them to begin nurturing in their own homes to their own families and then teaching them, if they so desire, to become Joy Coaches of America in their communities and states.

Carol: Is there one prevalent problem you specialize in solving?

Karyn: I help people to understand that grieving is a process which we must accept and gracefully transition through. Joy is our birthright and peace is our inheritance. We do not have to settle for living in despair, sadness, heartache and anxiety. We can rediscover joy in the journey. We all need a Joy Coach, in my opinion!

Carol: Nice.  So, an outcome that can be achieved by working with you would be?

Karyn: Many who come in with a broken heart, leave after several sessions thinking of those who can benefit from this type of ministering. In this way, we are spreading the mission and message for a world in pain and in need of comforting.

Carol: What would you say is the biggest difference or outcome these sessions can have/make in your clients’ lives?

Karyn: People often comment that their husbands and children notice a difference after a single session. The difference this makes in their homes and for their families is often miraculous! Hearts are being changed by realizing that they are precious in God’s sight. How can that not make a difference in regaining a renewed sense of personal value, connection, confidence and arising victorious over life’s challenges?

Carol: How does one find their joy again? Will you share a tip or 2 please to help those reading this to overcome a broken heart?

Karyn: Tip #1: Don’t try to get through the grief alone. Tip #2: Reach out and ask for help!

Carol: What would you say is the perfect mindset for beginning a journey of experiencing love, joy, peace ?

Karyn: My Grief Coaching Program, “Joy in the Mourning” addresses this very subject. This is the training I offer, either one-on-one or in a group setting. When I worked at the Myers Mortuaries in Ogden, Utah, I developed this program, which involves “The Healer’s Touch Method.” I worked with those who had experienced deep grief from the loss of a loved one and those who were steeped in the remaining sorrow, trauma, guilt, remorse and more.

The perfect mindset occurs with the desire and the willingness to discover “Joy in the Mourning!” This sacred journey to rediscover our forgotten or misplaced joy is rekindled by taking spiritual baby steps back into the light. We must acknowledge the pain of remaining where we are emotionally at present, to a compassionate witness. We must feel believed that our heartache, grief and pain is real. We must feel understood and empathetically heard by someone who will not judge us, but who will extend a hand of tenderness to help lift us up.

When we experience the gift of compassion from another human being, we can become willing to begin the process of “Gracefully Transitioning Through Grief into Joy.” I have beheld in awe as clients have shed past sorrows, cried those remaining tears and have begun to retrain the familiar pathways of their once grieving thoughts and emotions, as they feel assured that love is believable, hope is conceivable and joy is achievable!

The Healer’s Touch Method, or ”The Song & Scent Method” has the ability to reach in and touch a heart that is ready and willing to be soothed and solaced, in a tender and nurturing way. These “lullabies” with imagery inducing lyrics, can set a troubled heart at ease. In combination with beautiful musical meditations and aromatherapy, “Blessings & Blends,” I call them, the change of heart can be instantaneous if not miraculous!
