There is no way around it, if you want something you need to create the consistent habit of action to get it. Keyword: Action. Without you creating the habits of action that are necessary to get you where you want to go in life you will stay stuck.
The constant pursuit of the illusionary arrival of being “there” (aka the “I’ll Be Happy When Syndrome”) makes you completely miss the here, and the now, which is where all the magic, beauty, fun, love, and adventure of life exits. Life exists in the here and the now.
Stop planning and preparing for a better “tomorrow”. Stop waiting to start living your life. Waiting for a fulfilling retirement that is years in the future. Waiting to live it up on that one vacation a year. Waiting for your perfect mate to start living the life you want. Waiting to move to your dream destination for your life to begin. Start living in the today and the here and now. It’s the only place that life exists.
Q What is the one piece of advice you can give to someone who knows they are not happy with their life, but don’t know where to start?
A I’d say start with being honest with yourself first and foremost. It’s not in the lies we tell others that kill our soul’s magnificent and brilliant light, it’s the lies we tell ourselves that crush us slowly.
If you are experiencing the same thing over and over again, even if it masterfully masks itself showing up to appear in different circumstances and or with different people making the illusion that the recurrences are unrelated, well let’s face it – the common denominator in all unwanted patterns is always you. The good news is, that means that you have the power to change the pattern. Find the courage and humility to face yourself, and you will change your life forever.
Q Before we wrap it up, what advice can you give to those who want to start living the thrive life-style?
A Here are some secrets to truly thriving:
- Not giving a shit what other people think. Not in a narcissistic, self-absorbed kind of way. It’s not even in a screw you kind of way, but more like, I can only really please one person, so I choose that person to be me. YAAAY ME! And as a result you are a way more fun and loving person to be around and you are able to magnetize higher vibration people into your life as a result.
- Stop asking your brain to find reasons why you can’t do something that you want to do, and tame your brain to work for you by feeding it questions that will yield new possibilities and outcomes so you can actually achieve your dreams – Try out this power hitting question: “But what if I could?” Every time your brain presents the problem, ask it for the solution, and when it says “yea but…” use that power hitting reframe, “Yea but what if you could? How might you be able to make that happen? What are all of the ways that you might be able to do (insert whatever it is that you want to do.) Really pay attention to ensuring that you are focused on wants and not a should, or a have to, or ought to. Those are all other people’s priorities of your life. If you find yourself stuck here go back to #1.
- Here is a simple formula that anyone can use to create a life in the Thrival Zone: If it feels good to you do more of that. If it feels shitty to you, do less of that. If you start to worry about what others think, go back to the first secret to thriving.
