But what you’re clarifying is, is that you might not. Maybe you are good enough with the people that surround you, whereas a coach is someone, like you said, who is not emotionally attached. They don’t know all sides of the story. Their only concern is you and helping you to achieve the goal that you have put forth.
I’m also going to go out on a limb and assume that if in talking with me, you begin to recognize that there are certain qualities that I have that you might also guide someone into really clarifying that even though my goal is to have a dance studio, upon talking with you, maybe that really wasn’t my goal after all. You know what I’m saying?
Debe: Absolutely.
Jeannine: You might recognize, through coaching, that the only reason why you want to be opening a dance school is because your great-grandmother, who had to take care of you when your parents were in the hospital after a horrible accident, she was all into dance. So it’s kind of like your homage to her.
But in reality, that’s the only reason why is an homage to her. You don’t have a great love for dancing. You don’t have a great love for teaching people anything. So in that, you might also help someone recognize that the goal that they have set before them might not necessarily be the goal that they should be going after. Is that correct?
Debe: Absolutely. Absolutely. It’s all a discovery. And if somebody comes in and they want this dance school for in memory of Grandma, but they really want to be of that. Or at least that’s what they want to do. They want to play with puppies. It’s like let’s find this out. Let’s find out what you really want to do.
It’s all about helping the coaching client be all—to quote a commercial from 1,000 years ago, “Be all they want to be.” And really make sure that this life that we’ve been granted is fulfilled just to the utmost, and that we do everything that we want to do. And we have the steps, the goals, to do it. It’s great to say “Hey, I want to be a dance instructor. But if I don’t have the goal of how am I going to do it, the baby steps in between that long-term big goal, it gets all muddled.”
You just don’t go anywhere. You have all of these things surrounded in your brain and it becomes overwhelming. So having a coach, and breaking it down into baby steps, and baby goals, with the end being exactly where you want to be.
Whether it is that dance school teacher or the animal lover position, whatever it is, we make sure that you get where you really want to be with asking the right questions, drilling down and giving you bite-sized goals so you can accomplish and feel really good and really confident about where you’re going.
Jeannine: So it’s pretty—listening to you and the advice that you’re sharing with us, and the experiences that you’re sharing with us, it’s pretty evident that you’re very passionate about what you do. So I want to take this opportunity for you to tell the listeners, how did you come into this field and is there—you mentioned earlier that some coaches specialize. Is there a particular area that you specialize in? So if you could just take a couple minutes and share with our audience a little bit more about Debe Bloom.
Debe: Sure. Thanks for asking that. So everybody in this planet moves forward. We have transitions, and we start somewhere and ultimately we’re going to end at a far different place. When I started coaching, it was as a result of a volunteer organization for a particular, really small niche in our community.
Just to be very transparent, I had lost my twin sister, and there is an organization for twins who have lost their twin siblings. So we all get together. And I became incredibly involved with this organization. As a result of that, I was coaching other people to go through this grief process. As years went by, because it’s been about 15 years now, as years went by, I realized that I was not only coaching those in this tight community, but I started coaching other people outside of it.
As a result of somebody being in my audience, because I was doing group coaching, I was encouraged to roll up my sleeves, get my certification and share this intuitive gift I have, I guess, with other people. And so that’s exactly what I did. And I went into coaching on a very broad scale, and then I brought it in tight for confidence coaching, because I realized that my clients really were hungry for confidence.
Through that, I’ve met some wonderful people that have remained either clients or friends, and one of them brought me into a product line that also goes with the coaching. So I got involved in this business that was helping other people, my clients, with their confidence, because it is a product that helps with confidence.
And now I’m able to help others change their life financially by coming into this little business with me as well. And it’s becoming a network marketer on top of it. So it’s very exciting, and I’m able to use my coaching expertise in my other business as well, and helping my team grow their business. It’s just a win-win. I use my coaching skills for my team, and it’s great. I’m just being very fulfilled on both the coaching side and my direct sales side.
