Kaylee McMahon – Educating and Empowering Women by Raising Awareness About Personal Finance

Kaylee McMahon, founder of The Apartment Queen, has purchased over $68.2 million in real estate as General partner and principle. Before transitioning into her current full-time syndication role, she sold over $3 million in residential real estate.

Originally from Portland, Oregon, Kaylee is the host of InvestHER Dallas and the #1 Leading Ladies podcast, where she interviews kick-ass women who are disrupting their industry and tells the REAL story of how they got where they are.

She is developing technology to help make it easy and convenient for women to learn how to make passive income through apartment investing.

Q: Tell us about The Apartment Queen and how you provide education to women about creating passive income and building wealth through multifamily real estate investing.

We believe in educating our investors and providing the resources needed to succeed in multi-family real estate. We offer several educational tools such as blog articles, videos, e-books, podcasts, workshops, and more!

APQ helps women break into the multifamily real estate business one investment at a time. Our goal is to help 1 billion women start investing and create a world of financial freedom!

Q: Can you explain some of the benefits and advantages of raising awareness about personal finance to help women become financially free?

Almost 1/3 of women are abused, and 98% of domestic violence victims experience financial abuse in that financial knowledge is withheld from them, causing longer-lasting damage.

When you’re living in an abusive situation, goal setting is so foreign to your life. You just need to get through today.

So, we empower women by giving them access to life-changing passive income from apartment investments and reducing poverty. Investment education eliminates fear and increases financial security. If survivors can navigate the financial world, the rest of the world won’t see some scary.

Q: You recently released the “She Vest” app. Can you tell us a little bit about that?

To achieve our vision to educate and empower women by raising awareness about personal finance, we created the She Vest app that provides education on the pros and cons of cash-flowing Commercial Real Estate.

The app is full of robust content delivered by professional women who want to empower other women to create their own secure cash flow and generational wealth, including a trusted attorney, a CFA, a therapist, a CPA, and more!!

App users can talk one-on-one with these professionals.

Q: What are some of the benefits of using the “She Vest” app?

Women using the app can achieve an unbreakable mindset, learn about ALL types of cash-flowing commercial investments, and get comfortable with various investment documents.

Because you can use the app anywhere at any time, women can access the information without having to leave the house or finding a sitter.

Learning the profit-making techniques from women who are already doing it allows newbie investors to boost their profits and avoid rookie mistakes. The comprehensive learning modules on wealth creation enables users to achieve financial freedom.

In addition, the app provides tools for investors to track all of their investments in one place.

Q: What are some common myths and misconceptions women investors have about financial freedom?

Many believe financial independence is only achieved by those who are privileged or lucky. Women who have great-paying careers find themselves saying, “I wasn’t born into a wealthy family that saves money. How will I ever make enough to last for generations?”

Others believe they can save their way to wealth through saving by being frugal and avoiding debt. Frugality serves a purpose but can be limiting. While personal debt can greatly impact an investor’s bottom line, leveraging business debt can help amplify results.

We help people grow their wealth and provide passive income to achieve this freedom, and we take pride in offering strategies and creating opportunities.

Q: What are some common fears Women Investors have about investing?

Many women investors fear taking on risks and losing money.

Q: How can they get past these fears?

Individuals can move past or overcome these fears through:

  • Self-care and self-belief that they are able to take on the role of an investor.
  • Education
  • Working with experienced investors and mentors to identify individual investment risk factors
  • Determining the best investment type
  • Learning how to make your money work for you
